Frequently asked questions
At Dope Snow, we typically create our new-season styles in one of our three core shapes:
These three cuts have kind of been our go-tos for butters, jibs, and cruising since the beginning. In this guide, we dive into how each one fits, which mountain spot suits each shape, and more. That way, you can buy with total confidence!
FYI: “Shape”, “fit”, and “cut” are separate things from “size”. For example, both a Relaxed jacket in a “Size M” and a Boxy jacket in a “Size M” are the same size. Only their “silhouettes” or “shapes” are different.

Regular is our normal, true-to-size cut that isn’t tight nor oversized. This fit provides total freedom of movement for all-mountain wear, cruising, and charging, with enough room to add baselayers and mid-layers underneath. Check our ski layering guide if you're not sure how to stack them.
Typically, our Regular-shape jackets combine high-performance materials with reliable insulation (or come as a shell, for riders who prefer to build their own layering system), ready for resort ripping, deep pow, and fun park laps. That way, you can take on the whole mountain, whatever the conditions.
Relaxed jackets sit looser through the body and shoulders, allowing for easier movement, as well as creating a more laid-back silhouette. They’re also slightly longer and wider than our Regular fits. However, our Relaxed jackets are still tailored, providing more shape than our Boxy style.
Most of our Relaxed jackets have pull-on-and-go energy. They combine casual, street-inspired style with slick, tech touches. Oh, and because Relaxed is roomier than Regular, there’s more space underneath for layering, like puffies or fleeces.
Boxy is the widest, most retro shape in our lineup. This silhouette is short and wide through the body, for a deliberate, skate-inspired look on the snow. Think Chris Roach in the early 90s, Halldór Helgason in the mid-2000s, and Jesper Tjäder today. Most of our Boxy jackets also have an adjustable drawstring hem, perfect for keeping snow out!
Choosing Boxy is more of a style choice than anything. Like our other shapes, Boxy jackets feature the same modern performance and tech needed to push your riding and offer maximum adaptability from park to pow.
Still weighing up the shapes? Here are the most common Qs we get from riders about our fits.
Nope. Each jacket’s shape affects its silhouette, rather than the level of warmth or protection. All three fits use the same DRY Tech fabric (15,000 mm/15,000 g) and DWR finish, and the warmth each jacket offers comes down to its insulation.
Not really. Our Regular, Relaxed, and Boxy shapes are cut differently, rather than one fitting bigger than the other. For example, sizing up a Regular only gives you a longer, looser fit, as opposed to the drop-shoulder, oversized look you’d get with a Relaxed jacket. Instead, you’re better off choosing your usual size in the cut that best matches the style you want.
That’s it! Three shapes to suit any taste. Whatever part of the mountain you ride, our Regular, Relaxed, and Boxy fit jackets can handle it. The style is all down to personal preference, and Dope engineering will do the rest!
