Biography

Sam Baumgartner grew up in Hinterstoder with a resort outside his door and two instructor parents, so time on snow was just part of life. He started out chasing gates, inspired by Hermann Maier and Bode Miller, before freestyle pulled him in and offered a different outlet. He still remembers landing his first backflip and the feeling that came with it. Since then, his approach has been shaped by creativity and progression, looking at features differently and refusing to keep things conventional. From slushy laps at Absolut Park to bigger stages, the mindset stays simple: it should be fun, and the mountains beat the office every time.
